Business First: Louisville Geek buys space for new HQ

After searching for months, Louisville Geek LLC has found a new home.

The information technology company will move into a historic building at 700 Distillery Commons in Irish Hill, hopefully at the end of the year.

The company bought 20,000 square feet of office space in the Distillery Commons complex at Payne Street and Lexington Road.

Louisville Geek bought the property in January from Kinetic Properties Inc. for about $675,000, and the company plans to put another $1.25 million into a renovation, said Erik Eckel, managing partner of Louisville Geek. The company will take all three floors of the Unit 7 building. The unit, though attached to a larger warehouse, is its own building.

“We’re excited about this opportunity and just to have a building that’s our own,” Eckel said. “I believe is a wise investment to make over time.”

Louisville Geek is working with architect firm, Studio A, and contractor, A.L. Post, Inc., to design the space.
